Course Objective:

TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) unit is nationally recognised training designed to equip you with specialised skills for the safe operation of elevated work platforms across various industries such as construction, mining, forestry, and demolition. Acquiring a high-risk work license for EWPs exceeding 11 meters will significantly enhance your skillset, opening up employment opportunities and enabling you to explore new career paths. During the training, you’ll acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of 11 meters or more. This includes learning how to plan work activities, perform routine equipment checks, set up and operate the platform, shut it down, and secure it.

Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have completed Year 10 in the Australian school system or equivalent;
  • Have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to ASCF Level 2;
  • Provision of the participant’s Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Provision of Australian legal photo identification for assessment purposes

High-Risk Work Licences

  • High risk work licences have a 5-year life span. After this period, the licence will need to be renewed. This can be done via the WHS Queensland website.
  • If your high risk work licence has expired, you’re not classified as a licenced operator until it’s renewed.
  • You have up to 12 months to renew your high risk licence. If it’s past the 12-month period, you’ll be required to re-sit the written and practical exam.
  • A VOC cannot be done on an expired licence.

How to apply for a High-Risk Work Licence

  • You have 60 days from successfully completing your practical assessment to apply with WorkSafe QLD for your high risk work licence.
  • There is an application fee to lodge your AS1 Form.

  • Note: Interstate residents can apply for a Queensland HRW licence as long as they were trained and assessed in Queensland by a Queensland based registered training organisation (RTO) and assessor.

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in – TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more).
