How the course runs.

Real-life training delivered by our nationally recognised, industry-specialist trainers and assessors, over 2½ days.

2 Days Classroom

Two full training days running 7:45am – 4:00pm, at our training facility or onsite at your workplace by request.

Half Day

The final half-day to complete the combined program (2½ days in total).

Working as a Traffic Controller, you’ll need the correct PPE. You’ll need to purchase:

Once you gain employment, discuss any additional PPE with your employer, as company requirements differ. You may need additional hi-vis shirts, work pants, a hard hat or radios.

You’ll also need to be at least 17, provide 100 Points of ID and your USI. See the full admission criteria below.

Participants must:

  • Be at least 17 years of age;
  • Provide 100 Points of Identification;
  • Have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to ACSF Level 2;
  • Provide the participant’s Unique Student Identifier (USI);
  • Recommended to hold a General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or equivalent.

Upon successful completion of these units, students will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in:

  • RIIWHS201E — Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
  • RIICOM201E — Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIWHS205E — Control traffic with a stop-slow bat
  • RIIWHS206 — Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs

A Traffic Control Work Training Card will be issued from SafeWork NSW for the class TCR.

Working as a Traffic Controller, you are required to have the correct PPE. You will need to purchase a hi-vis shirt, long work pants and work boots.

Once you gain employment, you will need to discuss with your employer any additional PPE that you may require as per their company policy. The items each company provides will differ. You may need to purchase additional hi-vis shirts, work pants, a hard hat or radios.

ACTA Group’s Participant Advice and Selection Policy outlines in detail a process to be followed for granting Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer. This is supported with RPL resources available for all course units.

Participants must apply for RPL or Credit Transfer prior to or immediately after formal enrolment, but prior to the commencement of the delivery of the units. Any RPLs granted must be accepted and signed off by the participant.

Due to differing governing bodies in each State and Territory, credit transfers and RPLs need to be accompanied by an assessment of the student’s underpinning knowledge of the State regulator’s manual to confirm competency for the state licence/card before competency is granted.
