Thousands apply for a job at Qld’s Adani coal mine

More than 14,000 people have expressed interest in working at the Adani Carmichael mine in Queensland. More than 5,000 people who lodged interest were unemployed, and 4,000 of those unemployed for more than a month. With above six per cent unemployment in the state, Queensland has the second highest unemployment rate in the country. If the mine is approved, it is expected to create 1,500 direct jobs and 6,750 supporting jobs.
