Course Objective:

It’s a common misconception that working at heights only applies to tall buildings or high scaffolds but the risk of falling exists at any height, and even low-level work can result in serious injury.

Even if you’ve completed this training before, refresher training is recommended every two years in line with Australian Standards and industry guidelines from the Working at Heights Association.

Legislation, safety standards, and best practices are regularly updated including changes to the WHS Regulations and relevant Codes of Practice. Staying current is essential for both compliance and ensuring you can work safely and effectively at heights.

Work Safely at Heights Online Refresher training is designed for individuals who have previously completed and hold a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the Unit of Competency (UoC) RIIWHS204D Work Safely at Heights.

Delivery:

BEFORE enrolling in this online refresher training — Please ensure you hold the current UoC RIIWHS204D or its most recent equivalent. You will be required to provide a copy of your current SOA dated after 2015 showing your prior competency achievement in RIIWHS204D

Please note that we will not accept a SOA dated prior to 2015 or wallet cards.

This assessment is an online refresher course involving a series of quizzes with a set of questions. 

You will have 30 days from the date of your registration in the course to complete the refresher.

Refreshers are recommended to be undertaken at least every 2 years.

If you do not hold the current unit, you will not be eligible to receive a refresher certificate, even if you complete the training. In this case, your enrolment will be cancelled, and you will receive a refund less a $50 administration fee.

Refresher training regimes are to be based around the individual’s role and responsibilities as defined by the sites safety and health management system.

As a minimum, personnel need to be refreshed in their knowledge of:

  • Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates completion of working safely at heights that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:
    • Accessing, interpreting and applying technical and safety information for working at heights
    • Assessing hazards and risk associated with working at heights and implement control methods
    • Selecting wearing and caring for personal protective equipment
    • Identifying required safety systems including fall protection and associated equipment
    • Checking that fitting, adjusting and anchoring of fall protection and associated equipment is correct
    • Performing work safely at heights
Course Requirements:
  • Be at least 15 years of age;
  • Have completed Year 10 in the Australian school system or equivalent; and
  • Have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to ACSF Level 2.
  • Please note that wallet cards are an additional fee of $25.00

As a refresher, the individual who completed this course already holds a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights or equivilent. This does not have an expiry date, however (Work at Heights Association) and industry standards recommend retraining every two years.

Refresher training is advised every two years due to changes in Australian Standards & Industry Standards. Changes in WHS legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practice are an important factor for individuals to ensure they remain current.
