This refresher reinforces core principles in line with current legislation, Australian Standards, and Working at Heights Association guidelines.

ELIGIBILITY CHECK

Online refreshers are only available to people who already hold the underlying qualification. If you can’t tick all three, please don’t enrol — give us a call and we’ll point you to the right course.
You hold a current Statement of Attainment
You must already hold an SOA for RIIWHS204D or RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights (or equivalent prior unit).
Your SOA is dated after 2015
We can’t accept Statements of Attainment dated before 2015, or wallet cards.
You can access your SOA documentation
Either a clear scanned copy of your SOA, or a VET Transcript from your USI portal with the QR verification code.

Course Requirements
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to ACSF Level 2
- Year 10 in the Australian school system (or equivalent)
- Currently working in the industry
Important
If you don’t hold the current unit of competency (RIIWHS204D or RIIWHS204E) or its prior equivalent dated after 2015, you won’t be eligible for the refresher SOA even if you complete the training. Your enrolment will be withdrawn and you’ll receive a refund less a $50 administration fee. If you’re not sure — please call us on 07 5593 8268 before you enrol.

This refresher is delivered 100% online through our learning portal. After enrolment, you’ll receive immediate access credentials via email.
The assessment consists of a series of quizzes covering the core competencies of RIIWHS204E. You can complete the course at your own pace within the 30-day access window. Most students complete in 1–2 hours of focused study.
Once you’ve finished the quizzes, email us a copy of your existing SOA (dated after 2015) for verification. Statement of Attainment is issued within 1–2 business days of receiving correct documentation.
RIIWHS204E — Work safely at heights
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries. The refresher covers:
- Locating and applying relevant documentation, policies and procedures
- Accessing, interpreting and applying technical and safety information for working at heights
- Assessing hazards and risk associated with working at heights and implementing control methods
- Selecting, wearing and caring for personal protective equipment
- Identifying required safety systems including fall protection and associated equipment
- Checking that fitting, adjusting and anchoring of fall protection and associated equipment is correct
- Performing work safely at heights on more than one occasion
The refresher assessment requires you to demonstrate current knowledge of:
- Locating and applying relevant documentation, policies and procedures
- Completing working safely at heights tasks safely, effectively and efficiently on more than one occasion
- Accessing, interpreting and applying technical and safety information
- Assessing hazards and risks, and implementing control methods
- Selecting, wearing and caring for PPE
- Identifying required safety systems including fall protection
- Checking the fitting, adjusting and anchoring of fall protection equipment
- Performing work safely at heights
Refresher training is recommended every 2 years for Working at Heights, in line with Working at Heights Association industry guidelines and Australian Standards.
This Statement of Attainment doesn’t have an expiry date, but most worksites and employers expect currency to be maintained. Updates to WHS legislation, regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice make regular refreshing essential for both compliance and safe practice.
If you’ve already completed equivalent units of competency with another RTO, you may be eligible for Credit Transfer (no fee, no reassessment required) or Recognition of Prior Learning (assessment of existing skills and experience).
Both options must be applied for before commencement of training delivery. Speak to our enrolment team about your existing qualifications when booking — we’ll help identify what may be eligible.
