New to traffic control? Start here.
Most students start with one of these three pathways depending on the role they’re heading into. All three are nationally recognised training products.

Pathway 01
Traffic Controller
TC — Stop/Slow bat operator
For workers controlling traffic on-site with a Stop/Slow bat. The most common entry point into the industry.

Combo TC + TMI
Both qualifications in one go
Get certified as both a Traffic Controller and Traffic Management Implementer. Save time and money over taking them separately.

Traffic Management Implementer
TMI — Set up & manage worksites
For workers responsible for setting up, monitoring and dismantling traffic management worksites in line with TGS plans.

Section 02 · Refresher Courses
Renew your existing ticket.
Your TC and TMI tickets need to be refreshed every 3 years. Refresher eligibility requires a current or recently expired licence and evidence of recent industry currency. Most are completed in a single day, and your updated Statement of Attainment is issued within 1-2 days.

Section 03 · Individual Units
Additional units of competency.
Add a specific qualification to your existing ticket, or complete a single unit your employer requires. All units listed below are nationally recognised.
A note on prerequisites
Most of these units can be completed as standalone qualifications. However, students typically enrol because their employer requires a specific competency, or to extend an existing TC or TMI qualification. If you’re unsure whether a unit suits your situation, give us a call before enrolling.
Control traffic with portable traffic control devices and temporary traffic signs
Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices
Work as a safety observer/spotter
Operate truck or trailer mounted attenuators
Operate light vehicle
Apply, monitor and report on compliance systems
Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
Section 04 · Practical Assessment
Traffic Management Practical.
Read this first
Is this for you?
The Traffic Management Practical (3 site setups) assesses your ability to set up, monitor and dismantle three live worksites under supervision. You’ll be assessed on lane closures, shoulder closures, lateral shifts, intersections or entry and exit to construction sites.
Once you’ve successfully completed the practical and submitted all required evidence, your full TMI qualification is issued within 1-2 days.

Common questions.
The questions we hear most often. Don’t see yours?
TC is not a formal prerequisite for TMI. However, most students choose the Combo course because TC skills underpin a lot of what’s covered in TMI, and the Combo works out cheaper than doing them separately.
Most of our individual units can be completed standalone. Some are typically taken as extensions to an existing TC/TMI ticket. If you’re unsure whether a specific unit suits your situation, give us a call before booking.
TC and TMI tickets are valid for 3 years from issue. After that, you’ll need to complete a refresher to maintain your qualification.
Funding eligibility depends on your circumstances, the course, and current government funding programs. Get in touch and we’ll let you know what funding options may apply to your situation.
Photo ID, USI (Unique Student Identifier), PPE including hi-vis vest and steel-capped boots, a notepad and pen, and lunch (or money for the local cafe). Full details are emailed once you book.
We run courses at our Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Toowoomba training facilities. We also run on-site corporate group bookings — get in touch for a quote.
Statements of Attainment are typically issued within 1-2 days of completing your assessment, provided your USI is verified.
