Course Objective:

This unit provides the skills and knowledge required to undertake vertical rescues in a range of emergency situations in natural and manmade environments. This course is suitable for those in emergency services, volunteer organisations and associated industries.

Upon completion of this course students must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Understand Legislative and Regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and respond to vertical rescue
  • Scene assessments
  • Establish vertical rescue systems

It is essential that the prerequisite units listed below are obtained prior to the issuance of this unit to individuals within the fire sector or the units contributing to the attainment of PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

ACTA Group Course Admission Requirements:

Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have completed Year 10 in the Australian school system or equivalent; and
  • Have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to ASCF Level 2
  • Provision of the participant’s Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Provision of Australian legal photo identification for assessment purposes
  • Prerequisite unit – PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation
  • Prerequisite unit – HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in PUASAR032 Undertake vertical rescue.
